SALARY (OSD – Annual)

  • Grade 1: R397 233 – R454 191 per annum
  • Grade 2: R463 941 – R529 221 per annum
  • Grade 3: R543 099 – R657 507 per annum (Depending on years of experience after registration as an Independent Practitioner with HPCSA)

CENTRE: Alfred Nzo District – Madzikane Ka Zulu Memorial Hospital Number of Posts: 2 Permanent Positions

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • National Senior Certificate (Matric)
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Therapy (or equivalent qualification) that allows registration with the HPCSA as an Occupational Therapist (Independent Practice)
  • Current 2025/2026 proof of registration and paid-up license with HPCSA (Independent Practice category) – mandatory at interview stage
  • Previous experience in a hospital or public-sector rehabilitation setting will be an advantage
  • Valid driver’s licence is an added advantage
  • Computer literacy (MS Office) and strong report-writing skills

KEY KNOWLEDGE & COMPETENCIES

  • In-depth knowledge of Public Sector legislation: Health Act, Occupational Health & Safety Act, Patients’ Rights Charter, Batho Pele Principles, Ideal Hospital Framework
  • Excellent clinical reasoning, problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a multi-disciplinary rehabilitation team
  • Experience or interest in paediatric services including Cerebral Palsy management highly advantageous

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide comprehensive Occupational Therapy assessments and evidence-based interventions across inpatient, outpatient and community settings
  • Manage and coordinate Cerebral Palsy and paediatric rehabilitation services
  • Develop, implement and monitor individualised treatment plans
  • Compile accurate monthly statistics, clinical audits and performance reports
  • Mentor and supervise Community Service Therapists and students
  • Participate in quality assurance programmes and policy development
  • Manage equipment, infrastructure maintenance and stock control
  • Contribute to departmental planning, budgeting and procurement processes
  • Promote Occupational Therapy services and participate in research and in-service training
  • Ensure compliance with referral systems and record-keeping standards
