SALARY: R217 983 – R286 521 per annum (Depending on years of experience + attractive government benefits including overtime, night-shift allowance, danger allowance, medical aid contribution, housing allowance & pension)
CENTRE & ALLOCATIONS (Ehlanzeni District):
- EMS Lydenburg Station → X2 Posts
- EMS Bongani Station → X2 Posts
- EMS Barberton Station → X2 Posts
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Senior Certificate / Grade 12
- Ambulance Emergency Assistant (AEA) qualification
- Current 2025 registration with HPCSA as AEA (Intermediate Life Support) – card must be valid
- Valid Code C1 (former Code 10) driver’s licence + Professional Driving Permit (PrDP) for passenger transport
- Candidates will be required to undergo: – Written assessment test – Practical driving test – Physical fitness evaluation
- No endorsements on licence
- Willing and able to work 12-hour shifts (day & night), weekends, public holidays and overtime
KEY SKILLS & COMPETENCIES
- Full Intermediate Life Support (ILS) scope of practice as per HPCSA protocols
- Basic medical rescue knowledge
- Excellent patient assessment and emergency treatment skills
- Ability to work under extreme pressure in life-threatening situations
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities
- Knowledge of Road Traffic Ordinance and safe emergency driving
KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Respond rapidly to 112 emergency calls and planned patient transfers
- Provide pre-hospital Intermediate Life Support treatment on scene and en-route
- Safely operate emergency ambulances (including blue-light response)
- Maintain vehicles and equipment in 100% operational and clean condition
- Complete all checklists, vehicle logs and patient report forms accurately
- Restock medical consumables and gases daily
- Participate in continuous professional development (CPD) and in-service training
- Assist with disaster response and mass casualty incidents when required
- Work in any EMS unit (emergency ambulance, obstetric ambulance, inter-facility transfer, etc.) as allocated
